12 Reasons Vacations are Healthy

We're approaching the half way mark for the summer.  Can you believe it? Have you had your summer vacation yet?  If not, little did you know you could be not only tired and cranky, but you might be putting your health at risk too.  The Inns Along the Coast have teamed up with Expedia to offer a little advice. Make sure you take some time to relax and romance along Maine's Coast this summer.

There are two expressions that come to mind. "The family that plays together stays together" is the first one. The second one is "work hard, play hard."  Are you working too hard and not saving enough time for play? According to an infographic from Expedia you should.

According to Expedia's infographic although 92 percent of employees clock more than 40 hours of work per week, 57 percent don't use all of their vacation time by the end of the year.  Worse yet, a full 40 percent of workers say they can't justify taking time off.

Expedia's infographic lists 12 reasons why vacation time is good for our body and soul.  They include startling statistics, such as:

  • People who take annual vacations reduce their risk of disease by 21 percent.
  • Men who skip vacations several years in a row increase their risk of a heart attack by 30 percent.
  • Giving your brain time to relax improves your ability to memorize and learn new skills.
  • Studies show that the more vacation time you take, the better you perform at work.

Check out Expedia's full infographic for more important reasons to consider a sun-soaked, relaxing and romantic inn-to-inn itinerary along the Maine Coast soon.

The summer will be over with before you know it.  Then it will be too late to start planning that much needed rest.  Don't be the one who finds themselves with unused vacation time at the end of the year. Consider the Inns Along the Coast's 6 day package or one of the exciting arts, adventure, foodie or (adult)beverage-filled itineraries
