The weather outside might be frightful, but inside the nine Inns Along the Coast of Maine, fires are roaring and toddies are warming. While some think that the Maine coast is only for summer vacations, those really in-the-know have discovered the off-season appeal of quiet walks on the beach or along the harbor and unhurried strolling around beautiful New England towns.
Throughout the winter, our coastal Maine towns are filled with wonderful events. We wanted to share a number of ideas for your Maine winter vacations and intimate escapes that will warm the heart and get the blood pumping all while enjoying some really cool events!
Rockland’s Pies on Parade 2018, January 29, 2018
How does a nice warm piece of pie sound on a cold winter’s day? How about 50 of them? On Sunday, January 28th the town of Rockland turns into Pie Town USA as more than 25 inns, restaurants and shops open their doors to celebrate National Pie Day and raise money for the local food pantry. From 1:00 – 4:00pm on the last Sunday in January, each year, the three Historic Inns of Rockland are joined by as many as 25 additional Rockland and Camden, ME businesses and restaurants to welcome hungry pie eaters to the town for the Annual Pies on Parade Pie Tour. This year, Hungry pie lovers will sample more than 50 different pies at 25+ businesses, restaurants and inns throughout Rockland. Four of the Inns Along the Coast take part in this event, including founders, Berry Manor Inn, LimeRock Inn and Granite Inn, joined recently by Camden’s Hawthorne Inn. Toast to winter at Bar Harbor’s 3rd Annual Bar Harbor Winter Beer Fest, Jan 13, 2018
This one’s coming right up! On January 13, 2018* from 1 – 5 pm, don’t miss this annual brewfest at its new festival location, downtown at Atlantic Brewing Midtown, a local small-batch brewery. Plan to enjoy games and live music from local bands while discovering Atlantic Brewing Company’s small batch beers brewed just seven barrels at a time. This pilot facility allows fellow brewers from around the state, country, and world to collaborate on unique recipes and formulations in a shared environment. The new space is also home to Midtown Burger, Bar Harbor’s newest destination for hand-crafted burgers and wraps too, so you can sip and savor all at once. Tickets are ONLY available by purchasing in advance. The $25 festival ticket includes unlimited samples and a tasting glass to bring home. Designated-driver tickets are $10.
