Maine, The Perfect Place To Enjoy The Holiday Season.

The summer is over, the leaves have fallen from the trees and the crowds have departed. But it’s not over yet! The holiday season is starting and the Inns Along the Coast are ready to celebrate.

Halloween is just around the corner and our innkeepers and towns are ready to trick or treat the night away.

Maine is an old state with a varied and sometimes gruesome history. It is the home of Stephen King and is the backdrop for his scariest novels. The state also has it’s share of ghostly goings on and tales of the unexpected. Ask your innkeeper for ghost walk in their town and prepare to be afraid! They won’t mind if you have to sleep with the light on!!!

For more light hearted fun, head to Kennebunk for a spooky Trick or Treat among the magnificent federal houses on Summer Street. Decked out with skeletons, spiders, cobwebs and all things ghostly, these homes are said to be haunted so check that’s not a real ghost before asking for candy!!

Freeport is having a Trick or Treat party this year with a special event at LL Bean between 4 and 6pm on Halloween night. Check store windows for a pumpkin sign and have a great time.

Thanksgiving is one of our favorite times of year, families get together and the feeling of Christmas is in the air. It’s a quieter time and rooms are usually available for those who prefer a more peaceful celebration. Maine is wonderful at any time of year but there is something extra special about those crisp, icy mornings and winter sunsets along the coast.

Spend Thanksgiving enjoying Maine without the crowds, then settle in for a romantic evening by the fire, the perfect way to end the day. (Be sure to check with your innkeeper for restaurant reservations for Thanksgiving.)

There is nothing an innkeeper likes more than showing off their inn and Christmas is the perfect time to do it. Christmas trees and festive decorations galore can be seen on display and our towns along the coast join in the display.  There are many holiday festivals to attend, Prelude in Kennebunkport, the Sparkle celebration in Freeport, and the Village of Lights in Newcastle are just a few of the events taking place. Contact our innkeepers for more information about events in their area.
