The Inn
Timbercliffe Cottage Inn is a traditional mid-coast, colonial era summer “cottage” that overlooks the Penobscot Bay. The Inn’s unique hillside location provides a serene setting with beautiful views from our 80′ grand veranda and our spacious guest areas.
Located in the Historic District, Timbercliffe Cottage is within walking distance of town center, the harbor and Camden Hills State Park. Our private location provides a respite with a rolling front lawn and historic stone wall -just perfect for relaxing after a busy day of exploring!
Inside, the inn is tastefully handcrafted in colonial style throughout, honoring its impressive 1790 origins as a sea Captain’s home. Timbercliffe served as the long- time summer estate of a prominent family, and more recently, has been welcoming guests since 1983.
The Rooms
The traditional New England home is open year-round. Offering three elegant king suites and three queen room accommodations, all with hand hewn four-poster beds, en-suite baths, several with soaking tubs, fireplaces and, of course, indulgent hand pressed fine cotton linens and distinct toiletries. Our spacious common areas include a formal parlor, an intimate library, and gracious dining rooms well as a self-service butler’s pantry. Of course, the guest favorite is our expansive Queen Anne porch
The Breakfast
Start your day with a delightful breakfast on the veranda with lovely views of the Penobscot Bay or relax in our spacious formal dining room with garden views!
Enjoy a freshly prepared two-course breakfast from our kitchen daily, the menu is posted the evening before. We start with fresh fruit and entrees alternate between sweet and savory dishes. Our specialty is popovers and we proudly pour pure Maine maple syrup and source our ingredients as close to home as possible. We’ll happily share our recipes and try guest recipes too!
A repertoire of fine teas and coffees from our butler’s pantry compliments breakfast. Our house breakfast blend is ground and brewed each morning. The pantry is open late afternoons and evenings, too.
The Innkeepers
The deCordre Family purchased Timbercliffe Cottage in 2019, moving from Old Town Alexandria, Virginia to start a career of hospitality in Camden, Maine - a welcome change from fourteen years of corporate careers in the Washington DC metro area! Kevin, a Northern California native, and Lucia, from Prague, Czech Republic, have between them, traveled and lived around the world and in numerous tourist cities and towns of the United States. ”Tourism has always been part of our lives - it’s been a vital aspect of every place we’ve been blessed to live. The Porch and Gardens
Timbercliffe’s wide, 1800’s wrap around, ocean view veranda is a delight and the perfect place to begin and end your day! Each day, guests can be found relaxing with refreshments or enjoying conversations with newly found friends or after an adventurous day exploring Camden, nearby Camden Hills State Park, or the many local sights. Unwind in our wicker rockers with a refreshing drink and a good book. Sit back on the porch swing and glimpse a tall mast schooner or grand yacht sailing out of picturesque Camden Harbor. The adjacent stone patio and lawn invite you to linger a bit longer in the sun or enjoy a quiet moment in an adirondack chair before taking an evening stroll to dinner in the village!
Special Occasions
We have delighted in helping to make our guests’ special occasions just a bit more memorable - and memories more indulgent! We offer delicious freshly prepared charcuterie boards or cheese plates for celebrations and late arrivals, as well as packed for winery picnics or for schooner adventures! We offer toasting celebration packages curated to order - just let us know, we have helped with arrangements for lovely babymoons, relaxing honeymoons, numerous perfect engagements and hosted a beautiful, intimate family wedding. Timbercliffe is a wonderful setting for any special celebration!
