Holiday Happenings Along the Coast.

It’s that time of year again and the Inns Along the Coast and all our wonderful towns are putting on their holiday finery and getting ready to celebrate with you.

The inns are pulling out the fairy lights, dusting of the garlands, putting up trees and baking cookies the length and breadth of the Maine coast. To get you ready for this feast of holiday adventures we have made the definitive list of festive fun for you.

Beginning Thanksgiving weekend, November 25th, Rockland is first on our list with the Festival of Lights. A fun filled two-day event with craft fairs, visits from Santa and of course the Lobster Christmas Tree Lighting and the Parade of Lights. Your innkeepers at LimeRock Inn or Granite Inn will send you on your way to a fun filled day with a full itinerary after a delicious warming breakfast.

November 26th brings the Village of Lights to Newcastle. A beautiful winter wonderland setting, the twin villages of Newcastle and Damariscotta light up the night with 70 Christmas trees and garlands of twinkling lights along the bridge that connects them.  Be sure to catch the Parade of Lights where Santa and Mrs. Claus will be arriving on a horse drawn sleigh. Staying on the midcoast, Camden celebrates Christmas by the Sea on December 3rd. Look out for Santa and his reindeer helper Ellen arriving on a lobster boat and take time to join him for storytime at the library. Be sure to get a photograph of the star shining from the top of Mt. Battie, at night it looks like it’s floating in the sky, a treat for children of all ages. Enjoy a stay at Timbercliffe Cottage to make the most of this festive event

Moving down the coast, Freeport celebrates Sparkle, starting December 2nd. Events start with the Celebration Parade of Lights, this fabulous event ends with Santa bringing Freeports famous talking Christmas tree to life. New events this year include the Frosty Frolic, food trucks and fire pits along with lots of other festive fun ideas and introducing the Sparkle Stroll with special deals from stores. Starting on December 1st, this years event has gone back to it’s traditional roots with the Dock Square tree lighting, Candlelit Caroling at the Franciscan Monastery, The Walk to Bethlehem, Santa’s arrival on a lobster boat and don’t forget the hat parade!! Your innkeepers at the Inn at English Meadows, Waldo Emerson Inn and The 1802 House will keep you up to date on all the events.
