It’s Pumpkin Season!

Fall is on the horizon and Maine is getting ready to show it’s glory. There is no better place to experience those spectacular fall colors, the beautiful reds and golds of the trees on a woodland walk, the sparkling blue of the ocean and the fresh sharpness of a fall sky while walking on the beach. Fall also means the wonderful aroma of pumpkin and apples, delicious pies, the festivities of Halloween and of course, all the fun of Maine Fall Festival Season.

Festivities start in Kennebunkport at the Seashore Trolley Museum. Take a trolley ride to the Pumpkin Patch for some seasonal entertainment. Each member of your party gets to take home a pumpkin from the patch but this is only the start of the fun. Take time to decorate your pumpkin, do some crafting or take part in a scavenger hunt. There are many other exciting and interesting things to do at this fascination museum. Visit https://trolleymuseum.org/ for more information.

If you’re in Kennebunkport on Halloween, be sure to hop onto you’re broomstick and head over to Summer Street. The Federal houses on this street are decorated with spiderwebs, skeletons and ghouls of every description. Trick or treat through the strobe lights and fog banks and watch out…..many of these old houses are said to be haunted!! Is that ghost a decoration or a spirit come to join the fun?

The first weekend of October brings the Fall Festival to Freeport. Come join in the fun with over 200 crafters, artists and local foodies. Live music will be playing throughout this three day event. Best of all, no ticket required. https://www.visitfreeport.com/freeport-fall-festival/

Head on up to Damariscotta for the Pumpkin Festival and Regatta starting October 6th. This three day event is a celebration of the giant pumpkin. See them painted and sculpted, cooked into deserts and hollowed out for the regatta. Enjoy good food, music and street performers at this wonderful event. https://www.mainepumpkinfest.com/

No fall trip to Maine is complete without a trip to the pumpkin patch or apple picking. Ask your innkeeper for their favorite places to visit for these activities. After a full day of adventure, when your arms are full of pumpkins and apples, head back to the inn for a cozy night by the fire.
